America may have Madonna and Mariah but Russia has their own Queen of pop. In her native country, Valeriya has sold millions of albums, regularly sells out her huge stadiums tours, and is considered to be one of Eastern Europe’s most popular and widely acclaimed talents. Now she is embarking on an all encompassing campaign to win us over in the UK and make her mark on the western world.
To kick start her mission, Valeriya has launched her first ever UK website, http://www.valeriya.co.uk/ This retro style but sophisticated websites contains an intriguing video wall of trailers for 9 different videos on You Tube, Valeriya info and links to her pages across the social networks. To add a British voice to the website, Valeriya and her team took a bold step and invited members of the public, both men and women to listen to songs from her new album, Out of Control, for the first time. Their reactions were filmed and placed on websites homepage, un-edited to create an interesting section called Valeriya's People.
Whilst Valeriya may not be recognised in the UK, back home in Russia, she is on the front pages of the celebrity and fashion magazines more times than Victoria Beckham. Both her music and her private life is a constant source of news for the Russian media. Her life story is definitely something that would be a hit on the True Movie channel!
Valeriya is a big fan of the British music scene and is confident that she will be able to appeal to a wide audience in the UK. "Nobody knows who I am in Britain yet but I want to become as famous here as I am in Russia. London is the world's music capital and it's a chance to show what a Russian pop singer can offer."
So if Australia can give us Kylie and Canada give us Celine Dion, why not let Russia give us Valeriya??!!
